All coaches at Whitestar Academy are volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to work with our local youth and support them. Without the generosity of our volunteers, we wouldn’t exist and they are vital to us being able to carry out the work that we do!

All of our coaches have received a CRB check from the FA and it is mandatory that they are registered with the FA before they begin working with us. If you are interested in joining our coaching team, then check out our volunteering page and get in touch here.

Abdullahi ‘Macalin’ Mohidden : Club Founder

Meet Abdullahi, our Founder! Before coming the UK, Macalin was a professional football player in his home country, Somalia. He moved to Enfield in 1991 when he began coaching local players for friendly matches within the community. Macalin wanted to create somewhere for local youths to play football so he did, and White Star was formed in 2002! Fun Fact: Macalin is a loyal spurs supporter!

Ali: Club Chairman, Welfare Officer, and Head Coach

Ali Garre is our infamous Club Chairman, Welfare Officer and Head Coach. Having been involved in Whitestar from the very beginning when we were founded in 2002. He started out at Whitestar as a player himself as a young boy. He now oversees the running of the academy and club as part of our board and is a true North London hero, he supports Arsenal and his favourite footballer of all time is Thierry Henry.

Abdirahman Mohidden: club treasurer and Under 6’s, 7’s and 8’s Coach

Abdirahman coaches our under 7’s and 8’s boys team and has been volunteering with Whitestar Academy for over 8 years! His favourite thing about coaching at Whitestar is mentoring his team to be better players and seeing results on the pitch! He is a level 1 FA coach and is one of our longstanding volunteers. He supports Arsenal and his favourite player is Ronaldinho.

Prince Madu: Under 14’s Boys Coach (Blues)

Prince (yes, that’s his real name!) is one of our senior coaches at WhiteStar and coaches our under 14’s. he has previously football coached at his university team, summer camps and a girls high school sports team. Despite being a London boy born and bred, he (for some reason?) supports Manchester United and his favourite player is Zinedine Zidane.

Yahye: EYDP Lead and Under 11’s Boys Coach (Blues)

Yahye coaches our Under 11’s Boys Blue Team and has completed his FA Level 1 in Coaching. He also played semi professional football with Enfield Town FC. “I never had anyone who had been through the football system so being able to provide that guidance to players is important to me”. Yahye supports West Ham and his favourite player is Yaya Toure (Ironic, we know!)

Hudayfi: Academy Director and Under 16’s Boys Coach (Blues)

Hudayfi coaches our Under 16’s Boys Blue Team and has been coaching with WhiteStar for 5 years. He has completed his FA Level 2 in Coaching. He enjoys developing his players and being a role model for them. He’s a gunner and his favourite player is Martin Ødergaard!

Awo: Whitestar Community Lead and Head Coach (Whitestar Girls)

Awo is one of our long standing volunteers at Whitestar and has been coaching with us for nearly 10 years! She has been coaching football since … , coaching multiple age groups from the Under 15’s Boys Gold Team, to all our girls from Under 13’s to Under 15’s she supports the gunners and … is her favourite player!
